Fixing Loose Toilet Seats
Understanding the Issue
Over time, toilet seats can become loose or start to wobble. This is usually due to the fixing bolts underneath loosening from regular use.
What You Can Do
Many modern toilet seats are designed to be easy to adjust or re-tighten without tools.
Steps:
- Lift the seat and lid to expose the fixings
- Use a screwdriver or hand-tighten from underneath
- If there are cover caps, flip them open to access the bolts
- Test for movement and tighten further if needed
Tip
Soft-close toilet seats may have special fittings. If you’re unsure how yours works, check for a model number or snap a photo and contact us.
Safety Reminder
Don’t use excessive force—tightening too much can crack the toilet base or seat.
When To Report It
- Seat is cracked, broken, or missing fixings
- You can’t access the bolts or fittings are rusted
- The issue returns repeatedly after tightening
